Easter 2009

My Easter began with going to bed at 1 am on Easter Eve and not sleeping well during the time I had left. Finally, I got up at 7:20 since my Mother-in-law was arriving at 8 am and she is usually a little bit early.

Phyllis arrived a little before 8 with a few eggs to hide and Easter basket goodies to arrange, as well as donuts for breakfast. Shortly after the loot was stashed, Paige awoke and stumbled out of her room. Of course she was itching to get to finding eggs and raiding her basket. But since, her dad and brothers were still sleeping, she was forced to wait a while and managed to eat a donut. When she was done with the donut, I finally let her go wake her daddy up. As soon as Todd hit the kitchen, Paige was begging to get the boys up also.

Neither boy was ready to get up yet, they are still so young that sleep over rules Easter morning or Christmas morning. But... they woke quickly and eggs, baskets, candy and money ensued.

Easter Highlights:
  • The first thing Paige did when she woke up was run over to retrieve the Easter Bunny's reply letter.
  • The night before Paige had wondered if the Bunny would hide and egg in the fireplace, yet is was Braedon who put thought into it and discovered it.
  • For the past week, all Paige could talk about was how that crazy Bunny "hid" an egg in the middle of the floor, but the egg "hidden" in the middle of the floor this year went unnoticed by her.
  • When I opened a plastic egg for Dylan, he reached in and pulled out the dollar inside and gave me a huge smile. He didn't know what that dollar was, but he sure knew that it made him happy.
  • Sugar Highs!! Easter is the one day of the year that I let the kids eat candy (and a lot of it), even if they haven't eaten breakfast. It sure beats the normal dolling out of candy one piece at a time after dinner.
  • Sugar Crashes mean the little ones will soon be sleeping.
  • Nonnie getting to take place in her 1 st LaRue Holiday, since she just moved to Texas from Illinois.

Easter Lowlights:

  • Sugar Highs and Crashes- yep they are a double edged sword! Poor Dyl was so tired that he cried a full 45 minutes or so before the sugar high dissipated enough to sleep.
  • Tired Mama and Papa- A daddy that went to bed way after turning pumpkin orange, and a mom who didn't get much sleep at all was a bummer-- but only for us. We held out and the kids got our full on attention all day.
  • A LONG DAY!!

In closing, all I can say is I cannot wait until next year!
