Easter egg dying- with two applications:
It had slipped my mind that my mom had given us a couple of Easter egg dying kits a couple of years ago, so I purchased the time tested PAAS package. Todd and I decided that we would let Paige and Braedon use both egg dye kits. First, the traditional PAAS. Second, the egg marbleizing paint kit.
We started late, around 9:30 pm, due to circumstance. I figured that it would work out well anyway since I was wanting them to sleep in longer in the morning. My mother-in-law, Phyllis was going to be over around 8 and I wanted her to have enough time to stash her Easter loot for the kids.
It was both Todd and my goal to let the kids do as much of the egg dying as they could on their own, with our help on the things the were incapable of (such as heating the shrink wrap egg sleeves, fishing out eggs for Brae). The kids absolutely LOVED it! This was rated as one of their overall favorite parts of Easter.
Easter Eve Highlights:
- Egg Dying- Both kiddos had so much fun dunking eggs into dye cups, fishing to get the eggs out, and "marbleizing" the eggs with plastic gloves and special paint droplets.
- Writing the letter to the Easter Bunny. This LaRue tradition started with Christmas Eve letters to Santa, and have bled over to the Bunny also. They are left for, in this case, the Bunny, and are magically answered and left for the next morning's discovery.
Easter Eve Lowlights:
- The broken eggs. One of Paige's, which was my fault when trying to get a wrapper over it, and one of Brae's, which he broke. Neither were beyond repair- nothing that a little scotch tape couldn't fix, but it still upset them-- well Paige.
- Paige asked if the Easter Bunny was real- Thank God for Santa, who is real, thus so is the Easter Bunny. The are friends, in fact! Imagine that.
- Not having any carrots when Paige wanted to leave some out for the Easter Bunny.
- With the late Easter Eve beginnings, Todd's inner pumpkin started peeking through and he was too tired to wait the kids out on sleep. Thus, Mrs. Bunny worked alone.
All in all, it was an awesome Easter Eve. The only thing missing? Not a thing other than precious Dylan, who is way too young to dye (pun unintended, but not removed). Next year though, I readily await the joy of having all three kids participating in the LaRue Easter Eve traditions!!
